Make your own Happy - Tea Talk

Happy Monday! I pray that everyone out there reading this is safe and healthy!

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about things that make me happy. Like, genuinely happy. Things that light my soul on fire, make me smile, and give me something to look forward to.

You see, this is an important question to ask yourself from time to time. Why? Because on those really hard & busy work days, on days where you feel a bit off or in a rut, days where you feel no one understands or everyone around you is too busy to listen... it helps to have a positive outlet. This positive outlet can be a number of things but notice the key word that I am using is positive. Something that will not harm you or anyone around you, but instead add value to your day/week!

After a few days of pondering on my "happy list", I realized that the things that truly make me happy are the small moments throughout my day. You know, those moments when you know God is winking at you like, "Girl, I got your back and your front". So here I am, ready to share my "happy list" with you, in hopes that this encourages others to think about what brings you joy and make it a goal to include a few of these things in your week as something to look forward to or work towards.

  1. Prayer - I'm sure someone out there knew I would say this but it genuinely brings me joy to talk to God. Not only is it an outlet but it also makes me happy to pray for others. I always say, the best thing I can give to others is a prayer. I pray for my loved ones in all circumstance. I petition to God on my best days and my worst. The connection with God makes me happy.
  2. Coffee - Yep, Coffee. Lately, I've been enjoying Carmel Fraps from McDonald's as a special treat to look forward to 1-2 days a week. But on a day-to-day basis I make my own coffee at home, which in my opinion taste amazing. Every morning I get dressed, and then head into my kitchen to make coffee. It's not only routine but it is something that makes me happy. I look forward to that small part of my morning each day.
  3. Flowers - Honestly, I love flowers. Now that I am a homeowner, I am so looking forward to getting out into the yard and planting beautiful flowers. I think I got that from my Mom because she loves to garden and keep her yard in top shape. On Sunday, I bought myself a beautiful bouquet of flowers at Meijer on a whim when I was grocery shopping. I went to Meijer for dinner rolls and walked out with a newspaper and flowers lol. I decided that once a month, I want to have flowers in the house as a special treat. I keep looking at them over on our dining table and I  can't help but smile.
  4. Bible Study - As many in my life know, I have finished reading the entire Bible. My goal is to continue reading scripture several days a week, forever. I'm not ready to read the entire book again just yet, but to stay engaged I have been doing Bible studies that I have been enjoying. I love listening, reading and taking notes on the subject matter.
  5. Sunday's - I love my Sunday's and I look forward to them every week. Sunday is a prep day for me. I usually get my planner out and make sure I know what the week ahead has in store. I also find time to just RELAX on Sunday's. God said Sunday is a day for rest, and I will never argue that.
  6. Walking - I've so been enjoying going on evening walks with my Husband. It's been raining a lot lately but any chance we get, we walk around our neighborhood. It's fun just looking at houses, chatting with each other and enjoying the weather. This has been a highlight for me.
  7. Yummy Food - Most nights I aim to make dinner at home but my Husband and I also look forward to nights where we can take a break from cooking and get takeout. Last week, we enjoyed Chick-fa-la. So so yummy. That was definitely something to smile about.
  8. Just a Hello - It's been really nice keeping in touch with friends and family, even if it's just a text. This is something that makes my day, knowing someone is thinking of me enough to say hello. I have a few friends who share my love for reality tv, so that is always fun to chat about. One friend in particular remembered that it was International Women's Day a few weeks ago and sent me the sweetest text. It was perfect timing because I was having a rough work day. To those who reach out, you make me smile!
I challenge you to make a "happy list" and keep it for those days where you need an extra spark of joy!

"Whatever you decide, make sure that it makes you happy"

Holiday Gift Buying - Tea Talk

Happy Monday ! Am I the only person who notices how fast time is flying by! Geesh, it's almost November. I'd be lying if I didn't say how excited I am for the next two months though. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas, this is my favorite time of year. I always joke and say I am a Christmas Elf 🎄 , because I truly love the holiday cheer. I mean it's October and I'm already working on my Christmas Playlist. Once November 1st comes, it's Holiday tunes until December 31st (sorry to all family and friends, you have been warned in advance lol). Part of the Holiday Season is buying gifts, at least for me it is. I get so much joy out of giving gifts to my family and friends, finding them things I know they will love! Since I am a true Christmas Elf , I figured today's Tea Talk should be about my gift buying tips and tricks . You don't have to break the bank to give someone you love a nice gift, so let's get into it! The first thing I do when preparing t...

Windy City, I love You - Travel Blog

Happy Hump Day! Last Friday I skipped my Friday Favorites because I was in one of my favorites cities, Chicago . If you know me, you know Chicago has a special place in my heart. I took my first trip to Chicago with my Mom when I was in Middle School (#girlstrip) and we've continued to go back over the years. My Mom and I took my fiancé along with us in 2012, and since then, he and I have been back 6 times. Total, I've probably been there 9 times. And no, I don't have any family there lol. Anyway, you get the point, I love it . It never gets old. I often joke that it is my second home, aside from my actual home in my small-ish town that I'm from in the Mitten (which I also love). I'm going to break down why Chicago means so much to me and the things I love to do whenever I go! When we go to Chicago, we always stay Downtown on the Magnificent Mile. There are some pros and cons though. It's pretty pricey to stay directly downtown but you're right whe...

Friday Favorites

It's Friday! Man, I've been waiting all week to say that lol. As I mentioned the other day, I've been so tired and meh this week. I need some time to reflect on my Friday Favorites more than ever. Blogging. I'm really proud of myself for doing this and sticking to it so far. Tea time with Hil has turned out to be a great outlet for me. Shout out to all my friends and family who tune in every week to support 💗! Tea. Again, I'm living for tea right now. It's really been my go-to lately and has been calming my nerves. My New Scarf. My co-worker who happens to be one of my Bestie's bought me a beautiful cashmere scarf from Scotland. I finally wore it this week, and just wearing it gave me happy vibes. And it's pink; I love all things pink.  Happy Notes. So if you're a planner person you know all about the Happy Planner series. It's cool because you can add and remove pages. Well instead of the planner, I've gone with the notebooks and...
