10 Things I'm Loving so far in 2021 - Monthly Check-In

Happy Tuesday! I pray that everyone out there who may stumble upon this post is having a wonderful week so far.

It's oddly refreshing that the year that felt like it would never end is finally over and we are almost 3 months into 2021. There's nothing like the promise & hope of a new year to reset the pace and start over. Despite the day-to-day craziness we all endure, I've made it a goal to just keep focusing on the good. With that being said, I felt it was befitting to make my second blog post of 2021 to reflect on what I've been loving so far this year. There is always a bit of good out there, right?!

1. Netflix & Youtube - This is a given but even more lately. I've made it a goal to try to get through my list on Netflix, so far so good! I had a ton of movies that were piling up and ironically, most evenings I'd still sit there going "I have no idea what to watch" lol. Anyone else been there? Well now, I am focusing in on my list and so far I've fully enjoyed everything that I've watched as of late. Same with Youtube, I am subscribed to a few channels and when I have those "what to watch moments", I catch up on the videos I had been intending to watch for months.

2. Easing into the day - This is another goal for the year and so far it has been going great. I hate the feeling of rushing around when I wake up to get my work day started, so I have made it a point to ease into my work day. I make sure I wake up on time, ease out of bed, check my phone, get dressed, make breakfast and THEN I sit down to start work (I am working remote currently). This has been such an easy but great addition to my morning routine. By the time I sit down and get ready to work, I feel relaxed and focused because I made a point to do all of the things needed to take care of myself first.

3. Water ... Lots of Water - Hydration is important for us all but I've been being more serious about it lately. I even bought myself a new water bottle as an added bonus and it's been helping a lot. When I wake up, I make myself a bottle of water, then again around lunch time, again just before dinner AND again before bed. This routine has been helping a lot with my water intake and I hope to keep it up for the entire year.

4. My new Planner - I recently purchased a new planner for 2021-2022. I always go for the 18 month planners because I like to plan ahead if possible. Something about a new planner just brings me so much joy. I've been enjoying updating it daily with whatever may be going on that day. I also sit down every Sunday and write down any task/to-do's for the week ahead.

5. My Bible - I have been reading my Bible daily for a full year at this point and I am excited to say that I have finished reading from cover to cover. What once felt overwhelming, now feels like a great accomplishment. I plan to continue reading several days a week by doing various bible study plans.

6. Repurposing old iPad - So I have an iPad that is about 7 years old and while it works perfectly fine, it is outdated and not compatible with Apple updates anymore. Am I the only one who thinks that is so annoying? Well I refused to get rid of it because like I said, it works fine! So now I use it to watch Netflix and Youtube while I work lol. This works great since I am working from home. I just take the iPad and sit it on my desk and it provides nice background noise while I am working. Take that Apple!

7. Starbucks - Okay, I've discovered my new favorite drink from Starbucks. The Mango Dragon fruit Refresher with Lemonade. Man oh man, this is amazing. So amazing that I've had several since the start of the year. Thank God for the gift card I had LOL. If you have some days where coffee doesn't seem to be your mood, this is a must try.

8. Zoom - This is shocking that this is on my list because I am typically anti-facetime/zoom BUT it's been a good resource when catching up with friends that I can not see right now due to social distancing. You'd be surprised how helpful this is when trying to stay connected. Don't knock it til you try it ya'll.

9. Fitness Watch - Recently, I purchased a new fitness watch from Amazon. No, it's not a Apple watch BUT it sure does work like one. I was skeptical at first but this watch is the highlight of my month. Super cost effective but still syncs to my phone, receives calls/texts, tracks my steps and other fitness activities ... need I say more.

10. Waffles & Home Cooking - I've been obsessed with Waffles and that has been my go-to breakfast during the week. Aside from that, I've been cooking most of my meals at home. Trying a lot harder to stay clear of the take-out this year. Plus, it can be fun to try new recipes. If you are looking for free recipes to try, check out Pinterest!

I encourage you to ask yourself what you have been loving too! It's actually pretty fun and is a good way to focus on gratitude. Even if you just write it down on a sheet of paper, what good has 2021 brought your way so far?

"Don't focus on what's missing. Be grateful for all of the good in life, and have faith in what's to come."

20 Random Facts About Me

Happy Thursday! Clearly there is no rhyme or reason to when I post at this point. When I first started, I had this whole structured plan but that seemed a bit too stuffy, so now I post what feels good, when it feels right! Anyhow, I thought it would be interesting to share 20 random facts about myself. I seem that see that as a common post on most blogs, and a fun read! Here we go... My fiancĂ© and I met because we were best friends in high school. We started dating our senior year and have been together for over 10 years. The day we get married this year will be 11!  I have a 5 1/2 year old Dog, who I still refer to as my Pup. He's a Schnauzer/Terrier mix and he's the biggest diva I know lol.  I love crafting, which I'm pretty sure I inherited from my Mom. She's really into restoring furniture and sewing. I prefer knitting best, but I don't discriminate.  Remember the show Glee? That was me in Middle School & High School. I was an all out Choir Girl and t...

This weeks Friday Favorites is dedicate to Disney + , the new streaming service that launched on Tuesday! First of all, YASSSSS! My childhood favorites are all being housed in one streaming service. I'm seeing shows and movies that I haven't seen in years. What's even better is that they're offering a bundle deal where you can get Hulu and ESNP Watch along with Disney Streaming. Mind blown. Let's get into all the shows I've already added to my watch list: Disney  The Sounds of Music - All time Favorite that never gets old! Rip Girls - Childhood throwback, giving me all the surfing vibes.  Johnny Tsunami - Childhood throwback, giving me more surfing vibes.  The Thirteenth Year - Childhood throwback, about a boy turned into a sea creature.  Smart house - Childhood throwback, about a super tech savvy house gone wrong.  Don't Look under the Bed - Childhood throwback, giving you the cheesy scary vibes.  The Color of Friendship - Childhood t...

I'm a Christian But ... - Tea Talk

Happy Tuesday to those who have taken the time to stop by my little corner of the internet!  Whelp, I'm about to get deep. Fair warning.  Recently, I have been thinking more & more about how awesome God is to love us despite our many flaws. He made us in his image and continues to love and protect us even though most days, we fall short.  My family has always been believers in God. While we may not have always been avid church goers, I have always known who God was and that everything I have is thanks to him. My Mom has always been a prayer warrior, and instilled in me very young to PRAY and seek God for everything. Every night I find her on her knees praying before bed. If I could describe an earthy Angel, it would be my Mom. Speaking of Angels, I think of my Paternal Grandfather, who we called Papa. He was a man of faith through & through, most of his days were spent reading his Bible, that he read front to back time and time again. As he got older, he would li...
