2021 Word of the Year - Tea Talk

Happy Tuesday and welcome back to my little corner of the internet! Thank you to everyone who has been reading my recent posts, it warms my heart!

As we near the end of 2020, I have been thinking long and hard about what I want my 2021 word of the year to be.

I started this tradition last year from an idea I found on Pinterest. Essentially, you pick a word that you hope will define your new year. For me, it is more about having a word that channels hope and inspiration for the upcoming year. By picking a word of the year, it helps me stay centered and focused on what I want to work towards in order to make my year the best it can be! Honestly, with how hectic 2020 was, I'm grateful that I did start this tradition because it helped me stay focused on what I wanted my year to be, instead of focusing on the pandemic so much. On those days were I was feeling unsettled this year I remembered my word, so this is something I definitely want to keep doing for many years to come. You'd be surprised how picking a word can change your outlook!

My 2020 word was joy. If you want to read more about why I chose that word, feel free to check out my blog post on it here, 2020 Word of the Year!

So once you pick a word, then what? This is totally up to you, but I personally used my word in my journal by writing down my hopes and prayers surrounding that word. I also made a collage to hang in my bedroom, so that I have a daily reminder of my word and all the things that word means to me. I made sure to use my word in my daily prayers as well, asking God to help me find joy in the chaos.

My 2021 word of the year will be rooted.

To be rooted is to be established (planted) deeply or firmly.

My husband and I will be moving into our new home in early 2021, and to me, that will be our new foundation to grow roots and be planted. I can't wait to plant my feet at our new home and grow together there as husband and wife.

Being rooted in 2021 will mean ...

  • Knowing who I am and what I stand for
  • Standing firm on my beliefs and morals
  • Being Unshaken in the chaos of life
  • Continuing to be rooted with my faith in God & rooted in the word of God

After the whirlwind of 2020, I pray that I can plant my feet firmly in 2021. Regardless of what 2021 brings, I plan to be rooted and stand tall no matter what's going on in the outside world.

Grow roots! Find out who you are and what you want your life to be. Don't be afraid to plant your feet down. The deeper roots we have, the more we will grow. Just like a tree, when the storms in our lives come, if we are rooted and know who we are, we will not be shaken. Instead, we will take deeper roots. But also understand that to be rooted does not mean you do not move freely. Trees may have deep roots but the branches and leaves blow swiftly in the wind. To be rooted is not to be tied, it is simply to know who you are, where you come from and where you are going. To be rooted is to be unshaken by life, by people, by anything. To be rooted is to have a sense of knowing

Ask yourself, how do you want 2021 to be and how can you define that with a word?

"Grow Deep. Live Tall"

20 Random Facts About Me

Happy Thursday! Clearly there is no rhyme or reason to when I post at this point. When I first started, I had this whole structured plan but that seemed a bit too stuffy, so now I post what feels good, when it feels right! Anyhow, I thought it would be interesting to share 20 random facts about myself. I seem that see that as a common post on most blogs, and a fun read! Here we go... My fiancĂ© and I met because we were best friends in high school. We started dating our senior year and have been together for over 10 years. The day we get married this year will be 11!  I have a 5 1/2 year old Dog, who I still refer to as my Pup. He's a Schnauzer/Terrier mix and he's the biggest diva I know lol.  I love crafting, which I'm pretty sure I inherited from my Mom. She's really into restoring furniture and sewing. I prefer knitting best, but I don't discriminate.  Remember the show Glee? That was me in Middle School & High School. I was an all out Choir Girl and t...

I'm a Christian But ... - Tea Talk

Happy Tuesday to those who have taken the time to stop by my little corner of the internet!  Whelp, I'm about to get deep. Fair warning.  Recently, I have been thinking more & more about how awesome God is to love us despite our many flaws. He made us in his image and continues to love and protect us even though most days, we fall short.  My family has always been believers in God. While we may not have always been avid church goers, I have always known who God was and that everything I have is thanks to him. My Mom has always been a prayer warrior, and instilled in me very young to PRAY and seek God for everything. Every night I find her on her knees praying before bed. If I could describe an earthy Angel, it would be my Mom. Speaking of Angels, I think of my Paternal Grandfather, who we called Papa. He was a man of faith through & through, most of his days were spent reading his Bible, that he read front to back time and time again. As he got older, he would li...
