20 Random Facts About Me

Happy Thursday! Clearly there is no rhyme or reason to when I post at this point. When I first started, I had this whole structured plan but that seemed a bit too stuffy, so now I post what feels good, when it feels right!

Anyhow, I thought it would be interesting to share 20 random facts about myself. I seem that see that as a common post on most blogs, and a fun read! Here we go...
  1. My fiancĂ© and I met because we were best friends in high school. We started dating our senior year and have been together for over 10 years. The day we get married this year will be 11!
  2. I have a 5 1/2 year old Dog, who I still refer to as my Pup. He's a Schnauzer/Terrier mix and he's the biggest diva I know lol.
  3. I love crafting, which I'm pretty sure I inherited from my Mom. She's really into restoring furniture and sewing. I prefer knitting best, but I don't discriminate.
  4. Remember the show Glee? That was me in Middle School & High School. I was an all out Choir Girl and that was such a HUGE part of my life. If I was actually someone on Glee, I'd be Rachel Berry lol. I was a Soprano Singer, and on a good day I could hit some serious Mariah Carey notes. I also often had a ton of solo's in all of our concerts; this was probably the only time I didn't mind standing up in front of a crowd. By my Junior year, I was in Concert Choir, Show Choir and Chamber Singers. Man, I miss that. I even got a a tattoo to commemorate my singing days when I gradated high school. I wish I would have kept singing beyond high school. Like any muscle that you don't use often, my voice has changed a bit now that I'm older. But ya girl can still rock it!
  5. I love music. Which piggy backs off of #5. I have a pretty musical family on my Dad's side. Everyone sings or plays an instrument. I grew up listening to my parent's Motown records. It blows peoples minds when I know all the words to music that came out far before my time. I'm actually really drawn to the music from the 60-70's the most. I listen to everything though. My playlist jump from Pop to Country to Rap to Gospel to Alternative. I listen to it all, with the exception of Rock. Sometimes you'll even catch me dancing like a manic in my room, no shame here.
  6. I love all things RETRO & Vintage. I always joke that I was born in the wrong decade. If we could cut out the racism and segregation, I'd be all for living in the 50-60's. I love the clothes, and just the concept of a "simple time". I always enjoy hearing my family tell stories of life back then and all the fun they had. I would have loved to see my grandparent's and parent's when they were young. But since I don't have a time machine, I will just continue buying vintage items instead lol.
  7. I am the picture keeper of the family. I take pictures of all family events, vacations, and I take a lot of selfies too lol. I've always done this. I have at least 10 photo albums of my own that have pictures from my Youth, K-12, College, and Current. I love pictures, they tell a story. It's nothing like finding old family photos too, seeing everyone when they were young is always fun and sparks a good story. It's the only way we can capture a memory as it is. By the time I'm 80, I'll probably have a book shelf full of albums.
  8. I drink tea, everyday. I don't care if it's Summer, I will still have a cup of hot tea every morning. Sometimes I do coffee, but tea is my go-to.
  9. I randomly Pray throughout the day. If I see something sad on the news or I feel down, you may catch me mumbling to myself getting a quick Prayer in. I often Pray in the car, to and from places too. Helps ease my mind.
  10. I cut my hair into a short bob in 2011 and it took YEARS to get my hair back to the length it was before. It's still not there yet but it's almost back to my pre-chop length. Granted, I also kept perming and dying my hair for years... don't do that if you want growth lol. Lesson learned.
  11. I love my Parents. Like around the moon and back again.
  12. I feel the happiest when I read my Bible or connect with God in some type of way, daily. It's become a huge part of my day at this point. I notice a difference in my mood when I don't.
  13. I love to travel. Big or small. My hubby-to-be and I have been blessed to venture to a lot of places in the past decade. I love seeing new things and trying new restaurants. I take pictures of all of that too. Even as a kid, my parent's took me on trips every Summer, so I'm glad we've continued that.
  14. I'm a very PRIVATE person. In the dictionary, next to privacy, is a picture of me. I don't overshare. I tell people what they need to know. People who know we joke that I was actually born in the Silent Generation, but a lot of it was how I was brought up. If I tell you anything of importance, just know, you must mean something to me. But also know, what I tell you isn't to be repeated. With that being said, I hate when people push me for too much detail. Mainly people I don't know well.
  15. I am the most organized person in the USA. Actually, that's my Mom. But I'm second runner up. People come to our house and are afraid to sit down because it is so clean lol. It's never not clean. Spotless. It's nuts. Aside from being super clean and organized, I also love a good planner and notebook. I need all the organizational things.
  16. I hate going to the doctor. Enough said. Even if it's for something simple, I hate going.
  17. I love food. Cake, Pies, Burgers, Tacos, Hot Dogs. But I have the world's most sensitive stomach and sometimes my food choices turn into STOMACH CRAMPS. Ugh.
  18. I'm constantly working on myself, to be the best version of who I think I was meant to be. Which is why I always say, work in progress.
  19. I work in Higher Education, and I love helping others. No matter if it's a student, family or friends, I do what I can to help those around me. I'm honored that people feel comfortable talking to me. It makes me think I'm doing what I was called to do, even if it's in a smaller form right now.
  20. I love, cheesy romantic movies. The Notebook is my all time favorite and also might be my favorite book too. I can read and watch this over, and over and OVER! I also love Gone with the Wind.

I'm a Christian But ... - Tea Talk

Happy Tuesday to those who have taken the time to stop by my little corner of the internet!  Whelp, I'm about to get deep. Fair warning.  Recently, I have been thinking more & more about how awesome God is to love us despite our many flaws. He made us in his image and continues to love and protect us even though most days, we fall short.  My family has always been believers in God. While we may not have always been avid church goers, I have always known who God was and that everything I have is thanks to him. My Mom has always been a prayer warrior, and instilled in me very young to PRAY and seek God for everything. Every night I find her on her knees praying before bed. If I could describe an earthy Angel, it would be my Mom. Speaking of Angels, I think of my Paternal Grandfather, who we called Papa. He was a man of faith through & through, most of his days were spent reading his Bible, that he read front to back time and time again. As he got older, he would li...
