What I've been Loving - Friday Favorites

I just realized we are already almost through the month of January, which is insane! I feel that I've gotten off to a good start this month, I had a few rough patches but who doesn't! With that being said, there have been a few things that have made this month even more worth while and sparked joy for me that I thought I'd share.
  1. Nurse Jackie - This is a Showtime Series that came out a decade ago but man it's good. It is currently on Netflix. Think about a Register Nurse, who is secretly addicted to pills... but seems to be holding it all together, at least most of the time. I started watching this last week and I am already on season 6. Episodes are only 22 minutes or so, so it's a quick watch.
  2. Heartstrings - The new Dolly Parton series on Netflix, which happens to be amazing! I loved this series so much. Basically Dolly took her songs and created an hour episode based on the lyrics. I'm hoping she makes more episodes for this series, because she has a LOT of music.
  3. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Okay, another wonderful show but this one is on Prime. I was a little late to the band wagon on Mrs. Masiel but once I started watching I breezed through the 3 seasons. Think of a 50's housewife whose husband leaves her, which leads her down a path of becoming a comedian! It's hilarious and I love anything that is set in a different era. I find Mrs. Maisel to be empowering, finding triumph in what could have been a tragedy.
  4. Yorkshire Tea - I grabbed a sample pack of this tea at World Market back in early December, forgot I had it and decided to try it out last week. Let's just say I drank the 10 bags in the sample pack in a matter of 4 days! This is a nice, smooth black tea. I love tea by the way, if you hadn't noticed. Nonetheless, I ordered a 100 pack from Amazon for $3.99. Highly satisfied!
  5. Bible Study - I've continued on with reading my Bible in full force this year and so far I am killing it. I have it broken down into sections now, so I read so much everyday which make the process a lot less intimating. I've also been using my Happy Notes - Faith Notebook which has been great for note taking. I feel so much closer to God, which is refreshing. I also linked the Bible I use.
  6. Dolly's Biography - Okay, clearly there's a Dolly theme here. Did I mention I'm a fan lol? Well after watching Heartstrings, I wanted to know more about Dolly, so I checked out her Bio from my local library. Loving it so far.
  7. Vision Board - Earlier this week I sat down and made a vision board, that focuses on my word of the year, which is Joy. It was fun to do and I felt really inspired afterwards. Now I can look at it everyday as a reminder of what I hope my year is like.
  8. Finding a new Doctor - Last year, my Doctor of 10 years cut back on patients, so I had to find a new Doctor. Well I found one, and she is amazing. While I will miss my old Doctor, it was refreshing to see someone new. Everyone in the office was so kind, which made the experience even better. Hopefully this Doctor sticks around for the long term!
  9. Closet Purge - Last week I did a serious closet clean out. I meant to do this in December but I was sick for about a week and just didn't get to it. But better late than never. I cleared out pants, tops, purses and even some makeup. I have two bags ready for donation.
  10. Wedding Planning - So we are in the tail end of wedding planning. The shower location is booked. We have a food tasting this coming weekend and a details meeting to finalize everything with the venue in a few weeks. So exciting!
And there we have it, my sparks of joy for the month! Now we will see what February has in store.

"It's Friday. I'm alive. I'm breathing. I'm living. I'm blessed. Life is good."

I'm a Christian But ... - Tea Talk

Happy Tuesday to those who have taken the time to stop by my little corner of the internet!  Whelp, I'm about to get deep. Fair warning.  Recently, I have been thinking more & more about how awesome God is to love us despite our many flaws. He made us in his image and continues to love and protect us even though most days, we fall short.  My family has always been believers in God. While we may not have always been avid church goers, I have always known who God was and that everything I have is thanks to him. My Mom has always been a prayer warrior, and instilled in me very young to PRAY and seek God for everything. Every night I find her on her knees praying before bed. If I could describe an earthy Angel, it would be my Mom. Speaking of Angels, I think of my Paternal Grandfather, who we called Papa. He was a man of faith through & through, most of his days were spent reading his Bible, that he read front to back time and time again. As he got older, he would li...

The Art of saying "No" - Tea Talk

I know I'm not the only one who has struggled with saying "NO" at times. This was actually something I actively worked in this year and I feel that I've gotten a lot better but even so, it still can be hard to say not without feeling guilty. I realized I struggle with this over a year ago. I had constant back-to-back lunches and dinners, etc. scheduled with friends and family. Everything was so close together, I was struggling with having time to myself to regroup. Finally, when things slowed down, I realized just how exhausted I was. Also, I realized all of the money I used from constantly having outings so close together. It was then that it clicked; I could've said no . I could've easily say "hey, this month I am booked but maybe next month". Why didn't I do that? Guilt. I felt like I was being anti-social or letting people down who clearly wanted to hang out with me. But you know, that wasn't fair to me. I've said this before, b...
