Friday Favorites

Whelp, it's Friday Favorites time again. This particular post allows me to share the things I'm loving. Instead of focusing on all the things that could've gone better, I'm working on reflecting on the things that did go right; big or small. So here we go...

My favorite moments and things included:

  1. Getting my engagement pictures back from the photographer! They're beautiful, she did such an amazing job. I'm having a hard time choosing my favorite lol.
  2. Booking consultations for our wedding cake and flowers for next month. Two more things off the list! Can't wait!
  3. Starting the decades series on Netflix's! There are 4 parts: 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's. I finished the 70's over the weekend and just started the 80's. Let me tell you, it's good stuff! First of all, I always joke that I am a old woman at heart, so learning all this history is giving me life. Each decade is broken down into 8 episodes. Can't wait to dive back into this over the weekend.
  4. Watching the new series on Netflix's Rhythm + Flow. My fiancé picked this show for us to watch and I was skeptical at first but it's actually a really fun show.
  5. Fall weather arriving! Finally it actually feels like Fall. Loving every minute of it.
  6. The Downtown Abbey Movie. Finally saw this gem with my Mom on Sunday and it was everything I hoped it would be.
  7. Knitting. It's Fall so it never fails that I have the bug to knit in the colder months. I don't know why that is. Currently working on a scarf in a new pattern. Which is a big deal for me because I tend to keep it basic. So far it's looking great!
  8. Getting my first sewing machine! Of course I am a fellow crafting woman but the one thing I've been wanting to take up lately is sewing. My mom has a machine but I wanted one that was not so advanced (my mom's really good at sewing). So my new machine came in last weekend and I can't wait to take a crack at it.
  9. Free lunch at work! Never fails that I get excited when my boss treats us to lunch on meeting days. Definitely a simple joy. Plus I love food... free food is even better.
  10. Candy apples and cider! It's that time of year and as a true Fall lover, of course this is on my list.

So there we have it! All the good stuff from my week. The stuff that seems so small that it often goes unnoticed but still makes an impact on our day.

I'm a Christian But ... - Tea Talk

Happy Tuesday to those who have taken the time to stop by my little corner of the internet!  Whelp, I'm about to get deep. Fair warning.  Recently, I have been thinking more & more about how awesome God is to love us despite our many flaws. He made us in his image and continues to love and protect us even though most days, we fall short.  My family has always been believers in God. While we may not have always been avid church goers, I have always known who God was and that everything I have is thanks to him. My Mom has always been a prayer warrior, and instilled in me very young to PRAY and seek God for everything. Every night I find her on her knees praying before bed. If I could describe an earthy Angel, it would be my Mom. Speaking of Angels, I think of my Paternal Grandfather, who we called Papa. He was a man of faith through & through, most of his days were spent reading his Bible, that he read front to back time and time again. As he got older, he would li...

The Art of saying "No" - Tea Talk

I know I'm not the only one who has struggled with saying "NO" at times. This was actually something I actively worked in this year and I feel that I've gotten a lot better but even so, it still can be hard to say not without feeling guilty. I realized I struggle with this over a year ago. I had constant back-to-back lunches and dinners, etc. scheduled with friends and family. Everything was so close together, I was struggling with having time to myself to regroup. Finally, when things slowed down, I realized just how exhausted I was. Also, I realized all of the money I used from constantly having outings so close together. It was then that it clicked; I could've said no . I could've easily say "hey, this month I am booked but maybe next month". Why didn't I do that? Guilt. I felt like I was being anti-social or letting people down who clearly wanted to hang out with me. But you know, that wasn't fair to me. I've said this before, b...
